General liability covers third-party bodily injury or property damage that isn't related to the professional services you provide, things like a visitor slipping in your office or property damage during a home visit. Professional liability, often called malpractice or errors and omissions, covers claims that arise from the actual care or services you provide, such as an allegation that a caregiver's actions led to a client's injury or that care was administered incorrectly. Healthcare businesses need both because they cover fundamentally different kinds of claims, and having one without the other leaves a real gap. It's one of the most common misunderstandings we see among agency owners, and it's worth confirming your policy actually separates and covers both.
